Haddon is led and managed by qualified teachers who place the importance of learning at the forefront of all our activities. We pride ourselves on offering a lively, vibrant and exciting curriculum for all our children. A wide variety of activities are interwoven into our week and these include, forest school, Spanish, gardening club, Makaton signing, yoga, calming stories and cookery. We also organise music workshops throughout the year delivered by experts in their field.
Children’s communication and language skills are tracked and promoted through our daily NELI interactive language sessions. This is a research-based programme proven to boost all children’s early language skills and we are truly delighted with the progress we have seen since starting the programme in January 2026. We have also recently embarked on our nursery’s journey to become Math’s Champions; a goal which should be achieved by April 2027. Our ethos on nurturing all aspects of our children’s health and wellbeing has led to Baslow Edge Nursery becoming part of Derbyshire’s Smile4Life campaign. Toothbrushing and our ‘Let’s Grow’ initiative help promote these invaluable life lessons.
As part of our provision and our belief in the importance of planning meaningful experiences for the children, we organise a number of trips and outings throughout the year, including a yearly trip to the Crucible in Sheffield to take part in Music in the Round’s yearly concert and project for Early Years and Key Stage 1. We also organise a trip in the Summer term and we involve the children in local events and fundraising and organise regular visits to our local schools and community spaces.
Based within the beautiful grounds of Cliff College outdoor learning is at the heart of our provision and our young learners spend as much time learning outdoors as they do within the nursery room. We believe wholeheartedly in the importance of building children’s resilience and love of learning. It is our aim that by the time our children leave nursery they will be excited and mindful young explorers.
