Our youngest learners
Our Baby Room offers a calm, nurturing environment where our youngest children feel safe, secure, and confident to explore the world around them. Our dedicated team builds strong, trusting relationships with each key child and their family, supporting emotional wellbeing and helping children settle happily into nursery life.
We focus on the three Prime Areas of Learning within the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), which are particularly important for children under two years of age:
Communication and Language – developed through early conversations, shared attention, songs, rhymes, and simple stories.
Physical Development – encouraged through crawling, cruising, climbing, and exploring movement in a safe and stimulating environment.
Personal, Social and Emotional Development – nurtured through secure attachments, growing confidence, and positive early social interactions.
Our curriculum is play based and responsive to each child’s individual interests and stage of development. Babies are encouraged to explore sensory experiences, natural materials, and movement opportunities at their own pace, fostering curiosity and independence.
We work closely in partnership with parents and carers to follow each child’s home routine, providing consistency, comfort, and reassurance during their nursery day. Our glass-fronted sleep room offers a peaceful and cosy space for rest, while allowing clear visibility for staff supervision.
Babies join the Two-Year-Old Room for communal snacks and lunchtime, creating valuable social experiences where children can learn from and alongside one another.
Our Baby Room operates with a ratio of one team member to up to three babies.
Two Year Old Room
As children grow, they transition into our Two-Year-Old Room, an engaging and stimulating environment designed to support their increasing independence, curiosity, and confidence. During this stage, children continue to build on the three Prime Areas of Learning within the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) through a wide range of meaningful experiences.
Children are supported through:
Rich language experiences, including stories, songs, rhymes, and everyday conversations that help develop communication skills and vocabulary.
Physical challenges and exploration, with opportunities to climb, balance, run, and develop coordination through a variety of movement experiences.
Social play opportunities that encourage the beginnings of turn taking, cooperation, friendship building, and an understanding of emotions.
Daily sensory activities, imaginative play, and open-ended resources inspire children to begin to investigate, problem-solve, make choices, and express their ideas. Our curriculum follows children’s interests while providing opportunities for new experiences and discoveries.
We highly value outdoor learning, and children have daily access to our playground, garden, and wider grounds. Outdoor experiences provide opportunities to explore nature, develop physical skills, build resilience, and extend learning in a rich environment.
Our Two’s room operates on a ratio of one team member to up to five two year olds.
